Okay, this morning I recieved a phone call from a fairly-nice man, probably a tele-marketar. He had an accent, which I believe was indian but he told me that our address was chosen and “qualified to recieve a free $300 gas card and a 40% off card (gift?) for stores like walmart. At first, I declined and kindly told him that I wasn’t interested, but he assured me that I didn’t have to buy anything. I again said no, but he wanted to confirm my address, which turned out to not actually match ours. I said that the address he said wasn’t ours, but he asked for my name and address so he could send me the “card package” anyway due to the mixup or for being nice. Curious, I decided to give him my address and father’s name just in case. He responded by wishing me a merry christmas and said that the package should be sent to us in 3-5 business days. Oh and when I told him my address, I could here other people in his office cheering on the line but I forgot to ask what the company he’s from was. Again, he wished me a happy holiday and I said bye. So, based off what he told me, could we be actually getting the gas card/gift card in the mail after all? Or is it just a way to send us stuff to eventually buy something from them? We don’t have barely any money this holiday (not even for gas) so this would be pretty nice of them to send us this. What do you think? Thanks.

Hi, i just got a new job. They Pay electronically. The choice was direct deposit or visa paycard. I guess you get one free transaction if you need cash once a month from an ATM. They charge you after that. This is new to me, the rest of the jobs i had gave me checks. I don’t have a checking account and i am in college. I was wondering if anyone has used a Debit Visa prepaid card and if it is a good choice to have at my age. My thinking was i have a savings account so over time on the card i can use it like a credit card and not carry around huge amounts of cash whenever i need cash i can go to the ATM for it once a month ( i usually only spend money on gas now since it’s the summer). I use a debit card all the time at this gas station and it never ask me for my pin … i just put the card in the slot and it takes it like within 2 seconds but doesn’t ask for my pin # so anyway i pump the gas like $78 bucks and then i check my bank account online and when i look at the statement it will say VISA SHELL $1.00 and that’s it never the cost of what i paid .. this is been going on for weeks now do you think they are charging me credit? I dont mind the free gas but i don’t know whats going on??????

I believe i saw a prepaid phone at a gas station where u just buy a card for minutes but texting is unlimited and so are incoming calls. I don’t remember the name of the company, but has anyone heard of anything like this before. I need this because i don’t want to pay extra for texting but i don’t want to completely switch over because i like verizon’s coverage.

Jamar Hornsby has been kicked off the Florida football team.
Jamar Hornsby, a 21-year-old junior safety, learned Thursday that a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest on charges he used the dead woman’s gas card for six months, so he surrendered on charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, lawyer Huntley Johnson said.

Hornsby was released from jail several hours later on his own recognizance.

It was not immediately clear how Hornsby got the card. Johnson declined to comment on the specifics of the case, but said they would cooperate with authorities.

The credit card belonged to Ashley Slonina, a Florida junior. She was riding a motorcycle with another football player, redshirt freshman Michael Guilford, last October that hit a median at a high rate of speed, police said. The two died at the scene. They were not wearing helmets.

Hornsby started using the gas card the day after Slonina died. The card was used 33 times in Alachua County and another 37 times in Jacksonville, where Hornsby is from. The total amount was $3,000, said Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Stephen Maynard.

“I would love to hear the explanation for utilizing the card of a deceased person,” Maynard said.

The sheriff’s office will continue to investigate and forward their findings to the State Attorney’s Office, Maynard said.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said in a statement that Hornsby “is not part of our program.”

Hornsby missed five games last season after being suspended for selling free football tickets he received as a student. He was also arrested in April 2007 after a fight in Gainesville, but his lawyer said those charges were dropped.

State prosecutors did not return phone messages or e-mails seeking comment.
