what do you think of my business idea

duckfizzle asked:

i live in a large area with lot of universities and students. My idea is to create a product similar to the “entertainment” or “dynamte” books where they have local discounts. but my idea is for a student discount card where I go around to local businesses which attract students and as if they would like to be an advertiser and offer a discount to students who use the card.

The cards would be sold to students who would be able to use them for the next year.

In order to sell the cards I would find a club or organization on campus who would want to sell them as a way to raise money for they’re club or for some charity.

Cost to student- $10
Organization who sold it would get- $2
I would make $8 (some would cover the cost of the card- gas production printing, the rest would be profit)

Should I charge the businesses to be on the card or should it be free for them.

The draw for the businesses would be free/cheap advertising as well as customers who by saving a few bucks will probably spend a few more.

any other ideas?

has anyone been succesful in making a complaint about british gas?

lovelylesley7 asked:

Changed back to british gas earlier in the year..firstly no one came to reset our meters, so we had two gas cards, one after the other and neither worked although we had purchased £5 credit on each. This has never been refunded.

Today I credited my electricity key with £15 which the meter would not accept (error d4).
Contacted customer care and waited over an hour and a half for an operator to become free explained we are away as from Mon
we were told nothing could be done until we are down to less than 50p emergency at which point an engineer will come and give us £10 credit.A new key and a refund of the £15 should arrive next week..whilst we are away.
utter crap!

Am I Being Scammed? Please Say No?

dieguido asked:

I received a telephone call from 8663792003 today, but I missed it so I decided to call them back. They told me that I was referred to them by someone and that they wanted to give me some free stuff with one catch. There were three programs that wanted to give me a $40 gas card, a $25 dollar Visa (?) gift card, and a $25 Wal-Mart gift card. All of the companies required that I give them a $1 trial fee that will will be billed to my Debit Card in 1-5 days. After 30 days of having this trial I will be charged another $25 from each company if I don’t cancel, which sounds pretty easy to do. I can’t remember the first two companies, but one was Privacy Matters 123. I Google’d them and they seem fishy, but I called back for more information and they make it pretty clear that there will be no other charges other than the $1 and $25 if I don’t cancel in 30 days. I don’t see how anything could go wrong if this is the case. I literally made the guy repeat this to me four times over the phone before entering my birth date on my keypad.

However, they already had the last four digits of my Debit Card number beforehand and I read complaints on the Privacy Matters people. Please help me. I can’t cancel until I receive the things in the mail, which will be within two weeks they told me, and I REALLY don’t want to be scammed. I don’t have hardly any money and I can’t afford to lose what little I have. If I’m not being scammed, please let me know, and if I am, please tell me how I could be if I made them go over the terms clearly. Also, if I am being scammed, what can I do do prevent them taking more money? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the quick responses guys. I called my local police department and they told me to change my card number, which I promptly did. Will this be enough?

A side note: I never actually gave these guys my card number.

Is there a reason why I have never seen a gas station carry more than one brand of fuel?

monkeyalien asked:

The two closest gas stations to my house both used to be Citgo, so my dad got a Citgo card. When both stations switched to Gulf, he got a Gulf card and gave me his Citgo card. When the nearest Citgo station for several miles was about to switch to Exxon, I ended up getting a Gulf card. I got to thinking about: people who are almost out of gas, are low on cash, have a gas card, but the only station for miles is of a different brand; and people with plenty of cash and a card for a brand who pull into a station of a different brand after it is closed, but still takes cards. Neither have credit or debit cards. These potential customers need fuel, but cannot purchase any because neither have a card that matches the brand of station they pulled into. I imagine that when stations want to receive fuel from one supplier they are strictly forbidden from selling any other brand, but wouldn’t that violate the spirit of free trade in this country and hinder trade in such a huge industry?
Coke may not sell Pepsi, but they are sold in the same stores.
