How can I pay my credit card off in 12 months?

weechi asked:

Ok, I have a HUGE credit card bill…like, 15k. i have only one credit card, so this is it. i take home about 2,600. i have a home, i have been investing for 3 years in my Roth IRA and 403b.

so far i have put my car up for sale for a less expensive car, that will make my payment about 1/2. i’ve also cancelled my retirement contributions for this year (i know that’s bad but that’s my motivation…to get back on track and contributing again ASAP) and i have taken a roomate who will may about 1/3 of my mortgage and 1/2 the bills.

i’ll have about 1,100 a month after i’ve covered all my bills. but obviously i have to buy food and gas. i’ve already informed friends to NOT ask me out for dinner, etc… and i don’t need any clothes for work or anything.

i feel like i’ve done all that i can as far as freeing up my income to start attacking this bill…..yet it’s not enough!!! i’ll still be doing this for maybe 2 years…but i need to get it done THIS YEAR.
maybe…..can i get the money out of my roth? i know that goes against everything they tell you…but i was just thinking that’s the only other bit of money i have! is that even possible? and there is no reason a debt management agency would help me…i have money to pay, and my interest rate is already like 13%, i don’t miss payments…they don’t have any reason to cut me a break.
thanks for all the earnest advice…i really appreciate it. the reason for paying it off within the year is that my boyfriend and i would like to get married within the year, and i don’t want him responsible for my financial issues. i’d like for us to have the option of moving, without being tied down by debt and monthly obligations.

Is it possible to overdraw with a debit card?

queen_bee0042 asked:

I was recently charged $28 for overdrawing from my Washington Trust checking account. The thing is, I used my debit card on the purchase they said I overdrew with. Wouldn’t my card have been rejected if I didn’t have the money in my account? I was buying gas, so I ran my card before the amount was decided, if that makes a difference.
I’ve always been told that you can’t overdraw with a regular free checking account debit card, so this has me confused. Also, does anyone know if the bank will drop the charges if this has never happened to me before? Thanks

How much credit should I have open on my credit cards?

Osfon225 asked:

I have 6 major credit cards, a couple of gas cards and a couple of store cards. I have superior credit. My credit score was 836 when I bought my car last month. I never carry any balances, paying off my cards every month. The problem is that I have had most of those cards for over 20 years and they keep raising my limit. Right now I have about $150,000 in available credit with about $25,000 open on each card. Obviously this has affected my credit positively but I feel paranoid about having so much credit open, especially with regards to fraud or losing a card. I don’t want to cancel any card because they all have differenct perks, one has a permanent interest rate of 4.9%, another gets me free gasoline, another airline miles, etc. etc. So should I keep things the way they are? Should I force myself to cancel a couple of them? Or should I get the credit lines lowered?

PLEASE HELP ME, SHOULD I FILE FOR CHAPTER 7 OR SETTLE MY CREDIT CARD DEBT?

PHILLY asked:

i have $60,000.00 in credit card debt. i am unemployed. i live in an apartment by myself. i haven’t been paying on my credit cards (except one so i can use it for gas) for the past few months or so. i haven’t been paying on them because i can’t afford the minimums. should i settle the debt, or should i file for chapter 7? even if i settle it will still take me forever to pay the portion required back, plus, from what i’ve been reading, my credit will still be equally screwed if i were to file bankruptcy. no matter what i choose, i am moving back in with my parents, so that will free up around $1,000/month, either to pay back the amount i settle or to start saving up if i file for bko. can someone please tell me what is my best option? i’m leaning towards chapter 7 so i can just get a new start. and if i do file for bankruptcy, (i live in PA), can i keep my car, which i am the primary owner for the title, however my dad is the primary signer for the bank loan, because if he wasn’t it would of never been approved because of my credit, i am the cosigner, and if i do file for bko would my father be affected by that since he is the primary holder for my car. also, would i be able to keep my laptop and tv (the only 2 things i have besides my car, which i recently purchased for $5,900, that have some type of value). i leased the car 3 years ago and last month the lease ran out, so i purchased the car because it was the cheapest option for me at this point in time of my life, $160/month. but i couldn’t purchase the car by myself, again, because of my credit, so i had to get my dad to be the primary signer, again, if i file for bko, is that going to ***** over my dad? please help me out with your advice, websites i can explore, other options, etc. thank you very much for your time and help, it’s greatly appreciated. i know i’m screwed credit wise, i just don’t want to put my father in a tough situation. i can’t sleep at night because this whole situation with my credit is all i can think of. i messed up, and now i just want to do the right thing, the best thing, that will be able to get me out of this fiasco as quick as possible. thanks again, you don’t know how much your advice means to me. thank you.

Credit Card Question Please Help?

Bruce Wayne asked:

I have a Speedway Credit Card that I use for gas and purchases at other places to earn free fuel points. I have an $800 limit. My APR is 19%. Min payment is $15. When I get up to about $650 I make an electronic payment of $100 and I make about 4 payments a month. Is this dumb? Am I paying interest?

what do you think of my business idea

duckfizzle asked:

i live in a large area with lot of universities and students. My idea is to create a product similar to the “entertainment” or “dynamte” books where they have local discounts. but my idea is for a student discount card where I go around to local businesses which attract students and as if they would like to be an advertiser and offer a discount to students who use the card.

The cards would be sold to students who would be able to use them for the next year.

In order to sell the cards I would find a club or organization on campus who would want to sell them as a way to raise money for they’re club or for some charity.

Cost to student- $10
Organization who sold it would get- $2
I would make $8 (some would cover the cost of the card- gas production printing, the rest would be profit)

Should I charge the businesses to be on the card or should it be free for them.

The draw for the businesses would be free/cheap advertising as well as customers who by saving a few bucks will probably spend a few more.

any other ideas?

what do you think?

My bank merged & altered my db card to overdrafts without my written permission-any recourse to fees charged?

Ron D asked:

I use my debit card like money in my pocket – if I need something & can afford it – I buy it. No money in account then i do without. This has worked well for me until my bank merged with another bank. They sent me a letter telling me how great the overdraft coverage was. I did not question the letter as i was happy with my current setup. Due to a math error on my part I thought I had $300.00 more in my account. I have bought several small items over a 15 day period and find that they are charging me $30.00 a pop on each transaction. So a $100.00 worth of groceries and gas, etc is going to cost me $300.00 plus in fees. Is there any recourse prior to me talking to the bank manager? Are banks free to change up your account without telling you what your loosing (I see it a a quick way for the new bank to make a ton of money even it they chopped out half of the fees)? Thanks for any constructive help.

Has Anyone Used This Company Before?

poofeck asked:

I signed up for a free gas card awhile back thru http://Giveaway-Contest.com/FreeGas and I’m still using the gas card today.

Now I’m almost out of $$ on the card!!!

I signed up again and they won’t return any of my emails. Is there a way to get ahold of email addresses in the corp chain? I know this is just a consumer offer and it’s not like I actually bought something, but I really want in on this again!
