Can You Keep Pumping Gas If You Have Already Put The Nozzle Back At The Gas Station?

✫✫✫✫ asked:

I put gas in my car today with my Debit card and I forgot to finish the transaction. I put gas, and was too busy trying to remember to put the gas lid back on since I always lose it. The machine usually asks if you want a car wash then asks you if you want a receipt. I know someone probably got a free car wash at my expense, but can they also put gas in their car with my card even if the nozzle had already been put back? Thanks.
BTW, the transaction will not show up in my transactions list at the bank until about three days that’s why I’m asking.

Pre-paid gas cards with benefits?

Nicholas H asked:

I’m a student that commutes an hour to and from school everday, so obviously I spend a lot of $$ on gas (about $1000 a semester). When my student loans come in, I want to by some pre-paid gas cards to ensure I don’t run out of money for gas by the end of the semester. Since I’m going to buy about $1000 worth, I was wondering if anyone was aware of any kind of perks or discounts for any of them. I don’t want a credit card with reward points. I was hoping to get at least a few free car washes or something with a $1000 commitment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where in the US are people able to commit a “pump and run” or “drive off” theft of gas?

Kevin asked:

I keep hearing about the increase in people stealing fromg as stations by pumping their gas and then driving off without paying. This puzzles me, because everywhere I have ever driven in the US, all of the stations require prepayment. The pump will not work unless you either go into the station and give the clerk your cash or charge card and he activates the pump, or you use a “pay at the pump” method with your charge card. Is this a matter of some states requireing prepayment and others not? Or is it a decision of station operators? I have driven in various states in the west coast and Northeast, and have yet to encounter a pump that will work without paying first. If this is not a matter of local laws prohibiting them from doing so, I don’t know why any station owner would have pumps set up to pump “for free.”

Is there a reason why I have never seen a gas station carry more than one brand of fuel?

monkeyalien asked:

The two closest gas stations to my house both used to be Citgo, so my dad got a Citgo card. When both stations switched to Gulf, he got a Gulf card and gave me his Citgo card. When the nearest Citgo station for several miles was about to switch to Exxon, I ended up getting a Gulf card. I got to thinking about: people who are almost out of gas, are low on cash, have a gas card, but the only station for miles is of a different brand; and people with plenty of cash and a card for a brand who pull into a station of a different brand after it is closed, but still takes cards. Neither have credit or debit cards. These potential customers need fuel, but cannot purchase any because neither have a card that matches the brand of station they pulled into. I imagine that when stations want to receive fuel from one supplier they are strictly forbidden from selling any other brand, but wouldn’t that violate the spirit of free trade in this country and hinder trade in such a huge industry?
Coke may not sell Pepsi, but they are sold in the same stores.

DJ Wings asked:

I have seen on the news that advertisers like clothing companies and others have people put ads on their cars for free gas cards and I am trying to find out how to do that. Is there a number to call or a website to go to to set that up? I need me some free gas until I get another job. The free gas card will save me over $200/ mo. if I do it but I have no clue where it is at.
