I got a call saying that i’ve won a free gas card. Is it a scam?
ljohnyl asked:
I got a call a couple days ago that i’ve been selected to receive a $125 dollar gas card. But there is a shipping and handling fee of $2.95. The person asked for my credit card or debit card number. But i found this to be too good to be true, so i refused to give him the card number and hang up.

It is a scam. DOn’t ever give your debit or credit card! It’s good, it’s just a gas card and not a car.
One of my friends was instructed to go to a certain place to get his car which he won. But I told him not to. And it’s good, he followed my piece of advice. Because a week after, that scrupulous company owner was arrested.
Do take care and GOD BLESS THE CHILD.

100% scam. Did you enter a drawing where the prize was a free gas card? If not, why would anyone anywhere randomly pick you to receive a gas card? They wouldn’t. Second, it can’t cost $2.95 to ship something that weighs a couple of grams. As for the credit card number – give that away to a random caller and I hope you have 80 hours to spare (the average amount of time spent on a simple ID theft case).
Good for you for being smart and protecting your information.

Its a scam designed to “phish” your private information… for identity theft purposes…
