Marines officer?

Jenny asked:

My best friend just joined came back from the marines recruiting center, he said he took a test and just became an officer…? Is that possible? He said he scored a 90 and they decided to promote him right away… He told me all this other stuff like, he’ll recieve a card to enable him to get free gas.

He has a bad habit of exaggerating everything. He says he isn’t going to be trained or anything like that. He even said he has the legal authority to drag me to the recruitment center if he wants lol.

He is currently in community college for about 2 years. Is the Marines really that easy to get promoted to an officer? or is he just bsing? Please clear up any misconceptions. Thanks in advance.
Yeah I kinnda figured he’s BS-ing. Oh right another question… He thinks he won’t see any fighting, he’s in the marines for the “Benifets” for college. He claims that he’ll most likely be stationed in the usa. Is it likely he’ll see combat?

you must have a college degree and attend O.C.S (Officer Candidate School) You cannot become an officer at the recruting station

    Is he a civilian?

You cannot just go into a recruitment office and become sworn in as a 2nd lieutenant right then and there, he is lying 100 percent.

Since he is in college he can be a part of ROTC program and become an officer after he graduates college, but yes, there is no such thing as “not being trained” and becoming an officer. And he has no legal authority to drag you anywhere.

yeahh he is totally bsing that. first to become an officer you need to go to OTS (officer training school) it takes at least 10 months to be an officer. and he needs a four year degree in some kind of field. to be a marine is more than take a test because you need a lot more pride. he a pathetic lier. and if he didnt have any experience he might have to start as non commission officer where he is enlisted. and with out those enlisted men this core would have no backbone.

I had better get over there and see if they are handing out any general positions then!

The other people are right he is full of crap. you have to have a college degree and go through OCS to become an officer.

He sounds to me to already be displaying he doesnt have the qualities to become a Marine

Not only is it BS but it is a federal offense for impersonating a military officer
If convicted he could be facing a maximum of six months in prison and up to $5,000 in fines
